Cassey’s childhood story made me cry! It was a horrible start with a happy ending. I loved her relationship with her brothers and I truly hope that this book is the beginning to another fantastic series by Jill Sanders because not only to I want more of her brothers but I also want to know what happened to her sister.

Last Resort Grayton Series Book 1 edition by Jill Sanders Romance eBooks Reviews
Really didn't care for all the child abuse. It took away from the romance and positive parts of the book.
I was pulled into this book immediately by the prologue, which gave the backstory on the heroine. It was definitely intriguing, but even there I was put off by the sentence fragments and incorrect word usage.
However, by the middle of Chapter 2 I knew this wasn't worth finishing. It is a badly written story primarily built on lust rather than character. If you identify with people and like to read about how raw sexual desire translates into true love despite huge differences in values, go for it. (Don't forget to start saving for your divorce, sex dissipates but values remain.) Meanwhile, I'll go clean my toilet, it's a better use of my time.
The couple meet when Luke attempts to buy out the land Cassey has her restaurant on. From there the normal instant attraction dissolves to a few epic nights of sex, which leads to an unexpected relationship.
Though I am being a little flippant, it was an entertaining story to read. It was cute how protective Cassey's family was of her happiness and the bond between the siblings was genuine. I enjoyed how the author portrayed Cassey consistently as a strong business woman who cared not just about herself but the community as well.
This story is a great beach read. Enough drama to keep you interested but still a happily ever after.
The story was a little tedious and repetitive. The h is described as being one of those untrusting/angst/short fling only girls, so why does she act like any other female looking for a relationship. And yes - even though she refused to label it a "relationship" in her mind - it was in fact a relationship. And for a character so untrusting she was quick to forgive.
The bigger problem for me was a complete lack of conflict. The story was stale. IMO without conflict there is no tension to keep a really good story building to an exiting climax that drives the reader to a satisfying ending... Like one of those books where you wish it didn't have to end. This was not one of those books.
The sad thing is there were several points in the story that I thought would lead to conflict.
This wasn't a bad book... I just found it to be meh
Cassey was taken from her home 15 years ago and saved by her guardian angel Lilly. Years after being saved, she's now the owner of a bar and grill on the boardwalk, and has a loving family that is there to support her in what she does. Flash forward two years later and her business is having problems, and the big resort owners are trying to buy her out. Cassey refuses to sell her land, and when Luke, one of the buyers enters her life, she does everything she can to ignore the attraction to him, and not let him in.
Luke and Cassey are definitely attracted to one another, and the more Luke gets to know Cassey the more he knows what his father wants him to do is wrong. He is falling hard for her, yet she doesn't want commitment. I loved seeing Luke squirm his way into Cassey's life, and her loosening some of the walls she built up around herself. When she starts to open up about her past and her childhood with Luke, I knew no matter how much she denied it, she had feelings for him as well.
At times their relationship seems to move fast, but then again, this book moves pretty fast throughout the weeks and months that it covers. Luke learns a lot about himself being with Cassey and starts to work on his own goals as well as help Cassey save her business. The two of them opened up a lot in this book and we got to see both characters step out of their comfort zone and grow a lot in this story.
I adored Luke and Cassey together and seeing her brothers accept Luke like he was one of them. As much as Cassey tries, Luke is a force to be reckoned with, and he definitely makes her fall in love with him. I really liked how once Luke got to know Cassey his father's wishes seemed to disappear, and all he cared about was keeping this girl happy.
This is a sweet romance that will definitely give you the feels. I loved Luke and my heart went out to Cassey and her brothers with everything they have been through. They all deserve their happily ever afters, and I can't wait to read the other books in this series so I can hopefully see that. Luke and Cassey's story definitely finishes with a HEA and I couldn't be happier with how Last Resort ended!
